Directions: Corner of Main & Flood...recommended parking Norman High School parking lot, behind Grandy's (currently closed for remodel) or where Hobby Lobby used to be. We don't want to inconvenience any customers or irritate managers of the open businesses (CVS & Walgreens)
Description Public event to invite other Norman area residents to join us to celebrate our right & privilege to gather and speak freely. All are welcome at our weekly Monday (6:30-7:30p.m.) Honk for Peace/Bring the Troops Home Now vigils we've*been holding since Move On organized the 4th anniversary of the war vigil. *(We are individuals not an organization, but we call ourselves Patriots for Peace & Justice)
The sidewalks are handicapped accessible.

Description August 28th is National Take a Stand Day. We will be organizing a peaceful candlelight vigil. We demand our representatives listen to our voices and vote for a speedy withdrawal from Iraq. The vigil will be outdoors at the North Oval of The University of Oklahoma. This September, after hearing the White House‘s report on the "surge," Congress will decide whether we bring our troops home or spend another year fighting an unwinnable religious civil war. As Congress heads back to DC, we're here to tell them that it's time to take a stand.
We're holding a candlelight vigil on Tuesday, August 28--National Take a Stand Day--to remember the human cost of the war and urge our members of Congress to stand up in September and end this endless war. - - - "Oklahoma candles are flashlights with paper cones."
